Santa Cruz County Has Decreased in Residential Real Estate Ownership by 0.4%, From 2000 to 2010

The recent 2010 Census Bureau reports Santa Cruz County, Arizona decreased in total number housing units by 4,974, or 38%, since 2000. During the same period, the State of Arizona increased in housing dwelling units by 655,337, or 23%.

When Measured against the US, Santa Cruz County has a high amount of unoccupied residential real estate. 2,573, or 14.3%, are currently vacant in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. Of the 2,573 vacant properties, 14.9% are on the real estate market for sale, while 25.4% are listed in the rental market.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, owner-occupied residential properties in Santa Cruz County have decreased by 0.4%. Reported in the 2010 Census, there were 10,428 (67.6%) housing units occupied by owners, while 5,009 (32.4%) residential properties were being rented. Santa Cruz County has a smaller amount of rentals than the State of Arizona, which the Census reported had 34.0% of residential units occupied by renters.

When compared to other counties across the US, Santa Cruz County has a very high level of residential properties that are minority-owned. 70.4% are owned by minorities in Santa Cruz County; while in the US 21.7% and in the State of Arizona 25.7% of residential properties are minority-owned.
