Ventura County Has Fallen Off in Terms of Ownership of Real Estate by 2.3%, According to the 2010 Census

According to data from the 2010 Census, Ventura County, California decreased in housing units by 29,983, or 12%, since the 2000 Census-- the State of California increased in housing units by 1,465,532, or 11%.

Compared to the US, Ventura County has a very high amount of vacant housing units. 14,775, or 5.2%, of properties are currently vacant in Ventura County, California. Broken down, of the 14,775 vacant housing units, 16.7% are listed to be sold, while 31.6% are properties that are available for rent.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, owner-occupied units in Ventura County have decreased by 2.3%. Reported in the 2010 Census, there were 174,168 (65.3%) owner-occupied housing units, while there were 92,752 (34.7%) units were rented. Ventura County has a smaller portion properties rented than the State of California, which the Census reported had 44.1% of residential units occupied by renters.
