Charlotte County Has Moved Down in Ownership Residential Property by 4.0%, Since 2000

According to the 2010 Census, Charlotte County, Florida decreased in number of dwellings by 20,874, or 26%, (since the 2000 census), during the same time, the State of Florida increased in total real estate dwellings by 1,686,633, or 19%.

When Measured against the US, Charlotte County has a very high level of vacancy in residential real estate. 27,262, or 27.1%, of properties are currently vacant in Charlotte County, Florida. Within these 27,262 unoccupied units, 12.4% are the market to be sold, while 12.8% are reported as being listed for rented.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, owner-occupied housing units in Charlotte County have decreased by 4.0%. By 2010, there were 58,475 (79.7%) owner-occupied housing units, while there were 14,895 (20.3%) units were rented. Native Hawaiian is the group with the highest percent of rental in Charlotte County. 38.5% the Native Hawaiian Census group reportedly were renters in 2010.
