Holmes County Has Fallen Off in Real Estate Ownership by 3.8%, From 2000 to 2010

The 2010 Census reports Holmes County, Florida decreased in number of total housing units by 643, or 8%, (since the 2000), while the State of Florida increased in total real estate dwellings by 1,686,633, or 19%.

Measured against the United States, Holmes County has a low amount of unoccupied real estate units. 1,287, or 14.9%, are currently vacant in Holmes County, Florida. Of these 1,287 unoccupied units, 8.2% are listed to be sold, while 18.3% are properties that are available for rent.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, owner-occupied units in Holmes County have decreased by 3.8%. According to the 2010 Census, there were 5,710 (77.6%) housing units occupied by owners, while 1,644 (22.4%) residential properties were being rented. Holmes County has a smaller portion of rented units than the State of Florida, which saw 32.6% of the housing units occupied by renters.
