Ada County Has Deteriorated in Housing Ownership by 2.2%, As Reported in the 2010 Census

The 2010 Census reports Ada County, Idaho decreased in total number housing units by 40,955, or 35%, (since the 2000 census), during the same time, the State of Idaho increased in housing units by 139,972, or 21%.

When Measured against the US, Ada County has a high amount of unoccupied residential real estate. 11,026, or 6.9%, are currently vacant in Ada County, Idaho. Broken down, of the 11,026 vacant properties, 29.8% are listed to be sold, while 36.6% are properties that are available for rent.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, housing units occupied by owners in Ada County have decreased by 2.2%. Reported in the 2010 Census, there were 101,639 (68.5%) units occupied by owners, while there were 46,806 (31.5%) residential properties were being rented. Ada County has a greater portion of rented units than the State of Idaho, which the Census reported had 30.1% of units occupied by renters.
