Bonner County Has Declined in Residential Real Estate Ownership by 3.3%, From 2000 to 2010

According to data from the 2010 Census, Bonner County, Idaho decreased in number of dwellings by 5,023, or 26%, (since the 2000), while the State of Idaho increased in total real estate dwellings by 139,972, or 21%.

When Measured against the US, Bonner County has a high level of vacancy in residential real estate. 7,569, or 30.7%, are reported as unoccupied units in Bonner County, Idaho. Of the 7,569 vacant properties, 6.5% are the market to be sold, while 6.2% are listed for lease.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, housing units occupied by owners in Bonner County have decreased by 3.3%. The 2010 Census reports there were 12,757 (74.6%) owner-occupied housing units, while there were 4,343 (25.4%) residential properties were being rented. Bonner County has a smaller amount of rentals than the State of Idaho, which the Census reported had 30.1% of units rented.

Compared to other counties in the United States, Bonner County has a low level of residential properties that are minority-owned. 3.6% of properties are owned by minorities in Bonner County; while US as a whole had 21.7% and in the State of Idaho 8.7% of housing units are minority-owned.

Black is the group with the highest percent of rental in Bonner County. 61.5% the Black Census group reportedly occupied a rental.
