Mercer County Has Deteriorated in Real Estate Ownership by 1.2%, Between 2000 and 2010

According to data from the 2010 Census, Mercer County, New Jersey decreased in total real estate dwellings by 9,889, or 7%, since 2000. During the same period, the State of New Jersey increased in residential properties by 243,287, or 7%.

When compared to the United States, Mercer County has a medium level of vacancy in residential housing. 10,014, or 7.0%, currently are unoccupied in Mercer County, New Jersey. Of these 10,014 vacant residential properties, 14.1% are the market to be sold, while 42.5% are trying to be rented.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, owner-occupied residential properties in Mercer County have decreased by 1.2%. In 2010, there were 87,700 (65.9%) owner-occupied residential properties, while there were 45,455 (34.1%) units were rented. Mercer County has a smaller portion properties rented than the State of New Jersey, which reportedly saw 34.6% of residential properties rented.
