Monmouth County Has Escalated in Residential Property Ownership by 0.2%, Since the Year 2000

According to data from the 2010 Census, Monmouth County, New Jersey decreased in housing units by 17,526, or 7%, since the 2000 Census. At the same time, the State of New Jersey increased in residential properties by 243,287, or 7%.

Measured against the United States, Monmouth County has a medium amount of unoccupied residential real estate. 24,427, or 9.5%, of residential units are vacant in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Of the 24,427 vacant residential properties, 11.6% are listed for sale, while 21.6% are available for rent.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, housing units occupied by owners in Monmouth County have increased by 0.2%. Reported in the 2010 Census, there were 175,157 (74.9%) units occupied by owners, while there were 58,826 (25.1%) units were rented. Monmouth County has a smaller portion properties rented than the State of New Jersey, which the Census reported had 34.6% of units occupied by renters.

Compared to other counties in the United States, Monmouth County has a high level of homes that are owned by minorities. 13.0% of properties are owned by minorities in Monmouth County; while in the United States 21.7% and in the State of New Jersey 23.0% of homes are owned by minorities.

Black reported being renters the highest percent in Monmouth County. 57.6% the Black Census group reported to occupy a rented housing unit.
