Lake County Has Moved Down in Terms of Housing Units Occupied by Owners by 1.7%, (2010 Census)

The recent 2010 Census Bureau reports Lake County, Ohio decreased in number of total housing units by 7,715, or 8%, (since the 2000), while the State of Ohio increased in residential properties by 344,457, or 7%.

Compared against the United States, Lake County has a low amount of unoccupied residential properties. 7,046, or 7.0%, are currently vacant in Lake County, Ohio. Of the 7,046 vacant properties, 21.1% are for sale on the real estate market, while 35.5% are reported as being listed for rented.

                                     

Owner-occupied units from 2000 to 2010 in Lake County have decreased by 1.7%. By 2010, there were 71,335 (75.8%) housing units occupied by owners, while 22,821 (24.2%) residential properties were being rented. Lake County has a smaller portion properties rented than the State of Ohio, which was reported as having 32.4% of units occupied by renters.

When compared to all counties across the US, Lake County has a low level of residential properties that are minority-owned. 3.5% are owned by minorities in Lake County; while in the United States 21.7% and in the State of Ohio 10.2% of residential housing units are owned by minorities.

Black reported being renters the highest percent in Lake County. 73.1% the Black Census group reportedly occupied a rental.
