Washington County Has Declined in Residential Real Estate Ownership by 2.4%, From 2000 to 2010, According to the 2010 Census

According to data from the 2010 Census, Washington County, Ohio decreased in total number housing units by 607, or 2%, since the 2000 Census. At the same time, the State of Ohio increased in total real estate dwellings by 344,457, or 7%.

Measured against the United States, Washington County has a low amount of unoccupied residential real estate. 2,780, or 9.8%, currently are unoccupied in Washington County, Ohio. Among the 2,780 unoccupied units, 12.2% are on the real estate market to be sold, while 23.1% are reported as being listed for rented.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, residential properties occupied by owners in Washington County have decreased by 2.4%. Reported in the 2010 Census, there were 18,896 (73.9%) owner-occupied residential properties, while there were 6,691 (26.1%) housing units were leased. Washington County has a smaller portion of units rented than the State of Ohio, which reportedly saw 32.4% of units rented.
