Seminole County Has Decayed In Owner-Occupied Residential Real Estate by 1.7%, (2010 Census)

According to data from the 2010 Census, Seminole County, Oklahoma decreased in number of total housing units by 496, or 4%, since the 2000 Census-- the State of Oklahoma increased in total real estate dwellings by 149,978, or 9%.

Put side by side with the United States, Seminole County has a very low amount of unoccupied residential real estate. 1,892, or 16.3%, of residential units are vacant in Seminole County, Oklahoma. Among the 1,892 vacant housing units, 8.6% are listed to be sold, while 28.1% are reported as being listed for rented.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, housing units occupied by owners in Seminole County have decreased by 1.7%. The 2010 Census reports there were 6,906 (70.8%) residential properties occupied by owner, while 2,844 (29.2%) housing units were leased. Seminole County has a smaller portion of rental units than the State of Oklahoma, which the Census reported had 32.8% of the housing units rented.

When compared to all counties across the US, Seminole County has a high level of residential properties that are minority-owned. 22.2% of properties are owned by minorities in Seminole County; while US as a whole had 21.7% and in the State of Oklahoma 20.2% of owner-occupied units are owned by minorities.

Black is the group with the highest percent of rental in Seminole County. 44.2% the Black Census group reportedly occupied a rental.
