Schuylkill County Has Fallen Off in Residential Property Ownership by 2.4%, Between 2000 and 2010

According to the 2010 Census, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania decreased in total real estate dwellings by 1,517, or 2%, since the 2000 Census-- the State of Pennsylvania increased in housing units by 317,565, or 6%.

Measured against the US, Schuylkill County has a low level of vacancy in residential housing. 9,131, or 13.2%, of properties are currently vacant in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Within the 9,131 vacant housing units, 12.4% are for sale on the real estate market, while 17.0% are properties that are available for rent.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, residential properties occupied by owners in Schuylkill County have decreased by 2.4%. As reported in the 2010 Census, there were 45,496 (75.6%) housing units occupied by owners, while 14,696 (24.4%) housing units were leased. Schuylkill County has a smaller amount of rentals than the State of Pennsylvania, which saw 30.4% of units occupied by renters.
