Rutherford County Has Dropped in Residential Real Estate Ownership by 1.8%, (2010 Census)

The recent 2010 Census Bureau reports Rutherford County, Tennessee decreased in number of total housing units by 32,352, or 46%, since the 2000 Census-- the State of Tennessee increased in residential properties by 372,690, or 13%.

Compared to the US, Rutherford County has a low level of vacancy in residential real estate. 6,736, or 6.5%, of residential units are vacant in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Of the 6,736 unoccupied housing units, 22.5% are on the real estate market for sale, while 45.9% are properties that are available for rent.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, owner-occupied units in Rutherford County have decreased by 1.8%. According to the 2010 Census, there were 65,449 (68.0%) units occupied by owners, while there were 30,783 (32.0%) residential units were being rented. Rutherford County has a greater portion of rented units than the State of Tennessee, which had 31.8% of residential properties rented.

The 2010 Census reports that Rutherford County has a high level of housing units that are minority-owned. 15.6% of properties are owned by minorities in Rutherford County; at the same time the US as a whole had 21.7% and in the State of Tennessee 14.6% of residential housing units are owned by minorities.
