Union County Has Decreased in Real Estate Ownership by 3.2%, Since 2000

The 2010 Census reports Union County, Tennessee decreased in number of dwellings by 1,042, or 13%, since the 2000 Census. At the same time, the State of Tennessee increased in housing units by 372,690, or 13%.

Measured against the US, Union County has a very low amount of unoccupied residential properties. 1,567, or 17.5%, of residential units are vacant in Union County, Tennessee. Within these 1,567 unoccupied units, 10.7% are for sale on the real estate market, while 15.7% are listed for rent.

                                     

From 2000 to 2010, housing units occupied by owners in Union County have decreased by 3.2%. In 2010, there were 5,745 (77.7%) housing units occupied by owners, while 1,646 (22.3%) residential units were being rented. Union County has a smaller portion of rental units than the State of Tennessee, which reportedly had 31.8% of residential units occupied by renters.
