Scott County Has shrunk In Owner-Occupied Residential Real Estate by 1.4%, As Reported in the 2010 Census

According to data from the 2010 Census, Scott County, Virginia decreased in housing units by 561, or 5%, (since the 2000 census), during the same time, the State of Virginia increased in total housing units by 460,747, or 14%.

Measured against the US, Scott County has a very low amount of unoccupied residential properties. 2,141, or 18.0%, of properties are currently vacant in Scott County, Virginia. Within these 2,141 vacant housing units, 5.3% are listed for sale, while 10.9% are available for rent.

                                     

Between 2000 and 2010, owner-occupied housing units in Scott County have decreased by 1.4%. According to the 2010 Census, there were 7,508 (76.8%) owner-occupied residential properties, while there were 2,267 (23.2%) housing units were leased. Scott County has a smaller amount of rentals than the State of Virginia, which saw 32.8% of units occupied by renters.
